Measuring Ghosts
The paintings on display in Measuring Ghosts are paintings of failure — attempts to map the spatially impossible with finite materials and gestures. An accumulation of self-conscious fragments of process – each vying for surface dominance before the inevitable structural collapse under the weight of their own existence. Layered systems that will inevitably dissolve, forms that almost resolve and colours that nearly take hold, each work is an exercise in resisting the illusion of completion.
